Rayne High track teams attend Eunice High Relays

EUNICE - The boys’ and girls’ track teams traveled to Eunice High School on Friday, March 15, for the 2013 Bobcat Relays.

The Lady Wolves recorded 71 points for a fourth place finish tie, while the Wolves finished with 33 points.


The Wolves were led by Jalen Williams who finished second in both the 100-meter (11.0) and 200-meter (22.22) dashes.

Williams was also a member of the 800-meter relay team who finished in fifth place (1:37.09). He was joined by JaQuan Cormier, Donovan Cormier and Robert Butler.

JaQuan Cormier nabbed a third place in the 400-meter dash (56.69) and Tyrin Gordan placed fourth in the 800-meter run (2:17.47).

In the high jump, Peyton Larry cleared six feet for a fifth place finish.


The Lady Wolves were led by Tanner Wilson who took top honors in both the 400-meter dash (1:03.65) and 300-meter hurdles (48.63).

Wilson also took a second place in the triple jump at 33-4 and a fourth in the long jump (15-0).

In the field, Taylor Arceneaux finished second in the discus with a 92-9 throw and Imari Jackson cleared 6-6 in the pole vault for a third place finish.

Abby Duhon tossed a 87-7 throw in the javelin for a fifth place finish, while N. Meche placed sixth in the triple jump (20-10).

On the track, A. Arceneaux finished with a fourth place finish in the 800-meter run (2:53.69), and H. Benoit placed fourth in the 400-meter dash (1:08.59).

Both squads are slated to travel to Iota High School for a meet today (Thursday) prior to the Easter break.
