Rayne High track teams place at Bulldog Relays

IOTA - The boys’ and girls’ track teams of Rayne High School traveled to Iota High School on Thursday, March 21, for the 2013 Bulldogs Relays.
Both teams finished third in team points with the Wolves recording 89 points and the Lady Wolves finished 96 points.
The Wolves were again led by Jalen Williams who finished first in both the 100-meter (10.69) and 200-meter (22.50) dashes.
Williams was also a member of the winning 4x200 (800-meter) relay team (1:32.97), joined by Javon Cormier, JaQuan Cormier and Charles Jones.
The 4x100 (400-meter) relay team who took second place at 44.78 were Jalen Williams, Charles Jones, Robert Butler and Javon Cormier.
JaQuan Cormier took a third in the 400-meter dash with a 54.11 time, while teammate Baron Beard place fourth in the 200-meter dash at 24.07.
Ethan Baham finished the running events for Rayne placing sixth in the 110 hurdles at 17.45.
In the field events for the Wolves, Desmond Cole and Paton Duhon punched in a first-second ticket in the shot put. Cole made a 42-9 toss, followed by Duhon’s 42-1 throw.
Paton Duhon spun in for a second place finish in the discus at 124-4.
Peyton Larry took a third place finish in the high jump clearing 5-8, and also finished at fifth in the triple jump with a 38-6 leap.
The Lady Wolves were again led by Tanner Wilson who took honors in all four of her events. She took top honors in three events, 400-meter dash (1:03.28), long jump (15-3) and triple jump (33-10).
Wilson also finished runner-up in the 100-meter dash at 12.61.
Tristan Mouton also collected a few points for the Lady Wolves by placing in three events. She took top honors in the 300-meter hurdles (48.17), second in the 100-meter hurdles (16.18) and a fifth place finish in 100-meter dash (13.07).
Hannah Benoit nabbed a second in the 400-meter dash at 1:06.52, while teammate Allison Arceneaux placed third in the 800-meter run at 2:44.54.
In the field, Nia Meche placed fifth in both the long jump (14-0) and triple jump (29-9.5).
Taylor Arceneaux took top honors in the discus with a 95-2 throw.
Imari Jackson cleared 6-6 in the pole vault for a third place finish.
Rounding out the field events for the Lady Wolves was Abby Duhon who placed fourth in the javelin with a 88-1 toss.
Rayne High will host the Annual Wolf Relays on Thursday, April 4, at Rayne High Stadium.
