Rayne High Wrestling Action Continues
Action continued for members of the Rayne High School wrestling team as a number wrestlers showed promise during the past week of events.
On Wednesday, Jan. 6, the Wolves traveled to North Vermilion for a dual meet. The Wolves scored 57 points compared to the Patriots’ 17.
Scoring wins for Rayne High were:
Landyn Thibodeaux, 103 lbs.; Austin Bohne, 135 lbs.; Adam Menard, 145 lbs.; Shelby Thibodeaux, 152 lbs.; Billy Marcantel, 189 lbs.; Andrew Abshire, 215 lbs.
Also attending the North Vermilion Dual Meet were Cody Manuel 125 lbs., Austin Meche 130 lbs., and Josh Peltier 140 lbs.
In a multi-team meet on Saturday, Jan. 9, at Brusly High School, the Wolves placed fourth among a number of teams from throughout the state, scoring 56 points.
Shelby Thibodeaux placed first in the 145-pound division, scoring over wrestler from Calvary baptist, Sulphur, Holy Cross and St. Michael.
John Reynolds finished fourth in the 152-pound weight division. He scored wins over wrestlers from French Setlement and Fisher High, before he was decisioned by Andrew O’Brien of Brusly High.
Other Rayne High wrestlers donating towads their fourth place team finish were Landyn Thibodeaux 103 lbs., Cody Manuel 119 lbs., Hunter Hanks 119 lbs., Austin Meche 130 lbs., Bryar Babineaux 135 lbs., Josh Peltier 140 lbs., Austin LaCombe 145 lbs., Brennan Fontenot 160 lbs., Billy Thibodeaux 160 lbs., Billy Marcantel 171 lbs., Chance Menard 171 lbs., Andrew Abshire 215 lbs., Brennan McKnight 215 lbs., Jake Cormier 285 lbs., and Dayton Constantin 285 lbs.
The Wolves were scheduled to host Teurlings Wednesday afternoon during a dual meet at the RHS north gym.
Weekend events include a junior varsity quad meet at Rayne High Saturday, plus the Louisiana Classic at Lee High for varsity team members Saturday and Sunday.
