On Friday night, Narcotic Detectives were conducting surveillance on known drug offenders when they observed Broderick Redeaux conduct a hand-to-hand transaction with another male subject.
Officers made contact with Broderick and the other male. During the course of the investigation, officers located approximately .5 ounce of crack cocaine, 6 grams of Cocaine Hydrochloride, Loracet tablets, over 12 grams of marijuana, several ounces of codeine syrup, a digital scale and Alprazolam tablets either concealed on Redeaux or in his vehicle.
The other subject and the vehicle passenger were released without charges.
Chief Stelly reported Redeaux has a long history of drug and felony violations. Since 1999, police records indicate that he has been arrested in excess of six times for felony drug violations. According to records, Broderick is on probation until 3/16/2012.
Chief Stelly added that it is frustrating to repeatedly arrest the same individuals for the same crimes. However, as frustrating as it is, he says, “We will not tire in our pursuit of the drug dealers that prey on the weak. We will maintain our aggressive pursuit and seek civil and criminal penalties to push the drug trade out of our city.”
Chief Stelly asks that if anyone has information about drug offenses or any other criminal activity, to call the Rayne Police Department or 789-TIPS. All calls are kept strictly confidential and you do not have to give your name.
