Rayne police make drug arrests
Chief Carroll Stelly announced that his office has made two drug arrests as a result of a traffic stop on Monday Feb. 8.
Patrol officers initiated a traffic stop when they were affecting an outstanding arrest warrant on Jan Michael Thomas on West Branch and Second Street in Rayne.
Upon further investigation, officers discovered 340 grams (1/2 pound) of marijuana, codeine syrup and other narcotics.
Officers arrested Jan Michael Thomas, B/M, Dob 2/17/1984, 25 years of age, 602 Live Oak Street, Rayne, and charged him with an arrest warrant, felony possession of marijuana and possession of Schedule IV narcotics.
Thomas’ bond was set on Thomas at $30,000.
Also arrested was Byron Jude Babineaux, B/M, Dob 7/10/1984, 25 years of age, 606 West Anding Street, Rayne, and charged him with possession with the intent to distribute marijuana and possession of Schedule IV narcotics.
Babineaux’s nond was set on Babineaux at $30,000.
