Rayne stabbing victim dies Tuesday afternoon
Chief Carroll Stelly reports his department is investigating a disturbance that resulted in the death of a Rayne woman Tuesday afternoon.
Rayne Police were notified of a disturbance
at 510 North Bradford Street at 12:32 p.m. on Tuesday August 18.
When officers arrived, they discovered a female with injuries. Acadian Ambulance responded, and the victim was transported to American Legion Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The identity of the victim will not be released until all family members have been notified.
Rayne Detectives developed a suspect and officers arrested: Quinton James Mouton, B/M, Dob 2/18/1971, 407 North Bradford, Rayne.
Mouton has been charged with second-degree murder and is being held in the Rayne City Jail. Bond was set by Rayne City Judge Jim Cunningham at $350,000.
The investigation is continuing.
