Rayne Wolves, Ladies collect district wins

RAYNE - The Rayne High Wolves Baseball Team improved their district record to 3-0 Monday afternoon with a 8-0 win over Port Barre.
Four runs in two innings scored the district shutout for the Wolves behind the strong arm of Rayne hurler Kameron Falcon and a stingy defense.
Leading at the plate for the Wolves were Grant Abshire (2-2, RBI), Brice Meche (1-2, RBI), and a 1-3 outting for Hunter Keely, Ty Delahoussaye and Falcon.
In earlier action, the Wolves slid by Livonia Thursday afternoon to claim a 2-1 district win.
Hunter Keely threw six strikeouts while giving up three hits for the win.
Rayne offense was led by Ivy Thibodeaux who was 3-for-4 on the day adding a RBI.
Keely was 2-for-3 at the plate with a run and RBI, while Tyler LeJeune scored the go ahead run hitting 1-for-3.
The Wolves were scheduled for a road game at Church Point Wednesday where they were attempting to keep their district slate clean.
It only took the Lady Wolves three innings to shut out Livonia Thursday, improving their district slate to 5-1 with a 19-0 win.
Katie Benoit was the winning pitcher for Rayne (4 K’s, 3 BB, 0 hits), but the highlights came at the plate as the Lady Wolves connected for 18 hits on the day.
Blair Bergeron was 3-for-3 with three sinles, Amanda Bourque (3-4) had two doubles, Alex Peltier (2-3) and Ariel Meche (1-2) each tagged a double, in addition to hits by Katelyn LeDoux (3-3), Katie Benoit (3-3), Whitney Fontenot (1-3), Lou Miller (1-1) and Kristin Gaspard (1-1).
Cecily Schexnayder reached base twice on two HBP.
The Lady Wolves were slated for a road game at Church Point Wednesday afternoon where they will try to improve their 5-1 district slate against the Lady Bears.
