Rayville to host Christmas Parade Saturday
The Rayville Kiwanis Club has slated the 2008 Christmas Parade for 6 p.m. Saturday.
This year’s theme will be “A Country Christmas” and grand marshalls will be Henry Cumpton and Dr. Georgia Ineichen. The parade will begin and conclude as usual at the parking lot of the First Baptist Church.
All local organizations, businesses, churches, etc. are encouraged to participate with a float. Trophies will be awarded for first, second, and third places.
As the parade will be held after dark, each entered float will be required to provide six adults (three on each side of the float) to walk along throughout the parade for safety reasons.
Any questions about the parade can be directed to Kiwanis President Tom Raborn at 728-3256.
As always Rhymes Memorial Library will host its annual Holidays Bake Sale during this time as well.
The bake sale will be going on from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 5 and from 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 6.
Unique treats will include casseroles, cakes, candies, gumbo, soup and other baked goods. Copies of the books Richland Memories, Vols. 1 and 2 and Cooking Along the Boeuf will also be available for purchase.
Proceeds go to benefit Rhymes Memorial Library.
