Rebels, Warriors earn victories
CADE – Darren Arceneaux and Alan Vondenstein combined for 15 points in the fourth quarter to help lift the Midland Rebels to a 49-46 road victory over ESA Friday evening.
The victory sent the Rebels to 26-3 overall and 7-1 in District 7-B play heading into Tuesday’s showdown at co-league leading Hathaway.
Midland led 9-6 in the first quarter and took an 18-17 advantage into the break. But ESA tied the game at 26-26 after the third frame.
Arceneaux scored eight of his team-high 22 points in the fourth quarter while Vondenstein had seven and finished with 11.
Michael Primeaux added nine points in the victory, Chase Vincent had five and Jake Gautreaux scored two.
J.J. Jacquet paced ESA with 24 points, including 15 in the fourth quarter.
In other prep action the Northside Christian Warriors had little trouble with Johnson Bayou in a District 7-C road contest.
The Warriors jumped out to a commanding 29-3 lead in the first quarter and never looked back in a dominating 92-35 victory.
The Warriors improved to 18-7 overall and 4-1 in league play with the victory.
Ben Rogers led the Warriors with a game-high 21 points. He was followed by Kade Miller with 17 points and Nick Gotte and Joseph Trahan, each had 13. Nicholas Zaunbrecher also hit double figures with 11 points.
Also contributing in the victory were Tracy Wilridge with five points; Nathan Zeller, four; Jacob Boudoin, three, Nick Foreman, two and B.J. Starks, Josh Doucet and Josh Wheeler, one.
Northside will return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Starks for their league finale. The Warriors will round out the regular season at home Friday against Gueydan.
