CROWLEY – Early voting, as reported by the Registrar of Voters, Billie Meyer went well. The upcoming election polls include two candidate races, one in Ward 2 for Justice of the Peace, and one in Ward 6 for City Judge.

“The total turnout for absentee voting is 1130, which includes 1055 in person voters, and 75 mailed in ballots,” informed Meyer.

Meyer further broke down the numbers by percents. In the election for City Judge, 11,335 are eligible to vote, with 1,024 or nine percent of qualified voters absentee already received. As for the Justice of the Peace race, 39 people, or one percent, have already voted, out of the 3,297 eligible. Acadia parish currently has 22,759 registered voters.

“This election has so far, had a slightly heavier absentee count at the ballot,” continued Meyer. “This is most likely because this is a two office election.”

Voting hours will be this Saturday, October 4, between the hours of 6 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Acadia Parish Clerk of Court Robbie Barousse projects a 40 to 45 percent turnout for Saturday’s election.
