Registrar sees large early voting turnout

Managing Editor

Registrar Lucas Buller’s office saw a large early voting turnout for the October 4, election during the past week.

The registrar’s office does know how many people cast their ballots each day of the early voting period, but they do not know the results.

Buller said there have been several rumors about the outcome of early voting, which was formerly known as absentee voting. He said no one knows who is winning, and there are no percentages available of the votes cast thus far. These rumors or speculations are false. Early voting ballots are not tallied until late evening on the day of the election. The results will not be known until late October 4.

Early voting opened Saturday, September 20, and closed Saturday, September 27, at 6 p.m. At press time, early Saturday afternoon, 247 persons had cast their ballot bringing the total for the week to 2,589.

The rest of the week included 425 voters Saturday, September 20; Monday, 355; Tuesday, 346 voters; Wednesday, 359 voters; Thursday, 355 voters; and Friday, 502.
