Relay for Life of Acadia event less than one month away

CROWLEY – In 24 days, Crowley will welcome back the Relay for Life of Acadia Parish event.

The event is part of the American Cancer Society’s hopes to see the even be revitalized.

Acadia Parish has already seen the effects of the revitalization begin to showcase with 14 teams already signed up and work underway to not only have the event be a success but a really fun event as well.

Several teams reported very successful fundraisers over the past month.

The team captains in attendance also chose their team specific movies, themes, food/fundraising activity and entertainment activity.

With that, it was announced that at the event that teams will compete in team campsite, banner and spirit stick competitions at the event.

Teams will be able to begin setting up early Saturday, May 5, and must be set up by 5:30 p.m. Opening ceremonies will begin at 6 p.m. at the Crowley High School track.

Survivors are invited to attend as is the community. Any survivors that hope to attend are asked to register online at to provide as accurate of a head count as possible for the “Survivor’s Tent” at Relay.

Team captains were also reminded what they needed to bring to Relay to help try and stay all night; as there will be activities and music going strong all night. They were also reminded about the final bank night, set for Wednesday, May 2 at 5:30 p.m. at Iberia Bank.
