Relay For Life planned

One in three people will be diagnosed with cancer during their lifetime.

Again, this year’s Relay For Life of Acadia Parish will be held at the Rayne Frog Festival Fair Grounds on May 2, 2009, to help this ratio go down.

One day, one night, one community - Your Relay For Life is about celebration, remembrance, and hope. By participating, you honor cancer survivors, pay tribute to the lives we’ve lost to the disease, and raise money to help fight it all right here in your community. You won’t want to miss one moment of this life- and community-affirming event!

The event begins at 10 a.m. as announced by Event Contacts Jimmy Broussard 789-1322 and Mandi Ritter 581-1614.

Everyone can enjoy an abundance of food, fun, family, all for free!

An important part of the American Cancer Society Relay For Life is the celebration of nearly 11 million cancer survivors who are alive in the United States today. Survivors include anyone who has been diagnosed with cancer. Whether you are currently fighting your battle, or have been cancer-free for many years, you are a survivor. Also celebrated are the many Caregivers who have provided countless hours of care and support.

Relay For Life is a special place for Survivors. Survivors are the main reason we continue to Relay. You show we are making great strides in our fight against cancer, so we invite you to come join us. We want to celebrate you during the opening ceremony of Relay, and invite you to walk in a special Survivors lap. If you would like to register to participate in this year’s Survivor Lap & activities, please sign up today! We will also honor you during the lighting of luminarias that shine to represent the hope for a future where cancer no longer threatens those we love.

The American Cancer Society is the place to turn for help. No matter where you are in your cancer journey, we offer free programs and services to help you through every step of the way. Call us anytime, day or night at 1-800-ACS-2345 (1-800-227-2345) or visit www.cancer.org.

This year marks the beginning of a celebration of 25 years of Relay For Life. Sign up or donate today and join to mark this milestone and the successes achieved together during the last 25 years.
