Renovations to begin on Iota High School cafeteria
By Shantelle Breaux
CROWLEY – A special session of the Acadia Parish School Board was held recently to discuss renovations to the Iota High School Cafeteria.
William Ackal of Ackal Architects, A.P.C., addressed the board, stating that two official bids had been made to do the renovations on the cafeteria by E.L. Habetz and by L.K. Breaux.
L.K. Breaux submitted the low bid at $44,700.
Work to be done in the cafeteria includes the replacement of damaged wood floorboards and joists.
According to Ackal, the building still looks pretty solid.
The completion date for the project is July 15.
“It is a tight schedule,” stated Ackal.
School Board member Milton Simar stated that building a new cafeteria at the school had been considered, but that ultimately repairing the old cafeteria had been the best option. According to Simar, building a new cafeteria would have cost another $200,000 to $300,000.
The board accepted the low bid from L.K. Breaux.
