Residents learn tax is needed to stop flooding

For two hours, close to 1,000 residents listened and before the public meeting was over, many learned that coastal protection is going to cost.

The residents sat and listened to everyone speak about flooding in the parish and how much money it is costing the parish each time it floods.

Over the years, the parish is averaging one hurricane every three years. The southern part of the parish has been flooded twice in three years because of surges caused by hurricanes, although the parish has not taken a direct hit.
