Rice and Soybean meeting held
CROWLEY – The Acadia Parish Rice and Soybean Producers meeting was held Thursday at the LSU AgCenter in Crowley. Dozens of farmers from across the parish were in attendance.
Barrett Courville, County Agent LSU AgCenter, welcome the group after they had registered and gotten their fill of donuts and coffee.
The group’s president Jackie Loewer then addressed the group for their annual business meeting. Dr. Johnny Saichuk, an LSU AgCenter Rice Specialist, then addressed the group and reviewed the past year with them as well as discussing production practices for 2009.
Those in attendance were then addressed by experts on a variety of subjects including rice disease, insect control, soybean production practices and market updates.
