Richard Felix Hebert Sr.

JENNINGS - A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Our Lady Help of Christians Church in Jennings on Monday, January 16, 2012 at 10 a.m. honoring the life of Richard Felix Hebert Sr., age 75, of Evangeline, who died January 11, 2012 peacefully with his family at his side in the comfort of his home. He will be laid to rest in St. Jules Cemetery with Father Charles McMillin officiating his services.

A lifelong resident of Evangeline, Richard married the love of his life, the former Doris Ann Doucet for 55 beautiful years and they were the proud parents of three sons, Richard “Butch” (Michelle Touchet) Hebert Jr. of Jennings, Gregg Steven (Joyce “Pogo”) Hebert of Cleveland, Texas, and Troy James (Julie) Hebert of Iota. He was a wonderful and loving grandfather to four grandchildren, Felix Hebert, Alisha Hebert, Gregg “Bubba” Hebert Jr. and Trey Hebert; two step grandchildren, Hanna and Trent McFarlain; one great grandchild and three step great grandchildren. Richard also leaves behind to cherish his memories two siblings, David (Mickey) Hebert and Rita Clement, both of Evangeline; three brothers-in-law, Dewey Clement of Jennings, Kenneth (Kathy) Doucet of Lafayette and Preston (Janet) Doucet of Jennings; and one sister-in-law, Linda (Deryle) Daigle of Lake Charles.

Richard was a 1955 graduate of Iota High School. He was employed for 32 years at the Acadia Parish office of the Department of Transportation and Development as an Engineer Aid 4, were he assisted in building Interstate 10 between Crowley and Rayne along with numerous roads and highways in Acadia Parish. He worked at Calcasieu Marine National Bank in Welsh for 10 years and was also a newspaper carrier for 5 years with the Jennings Daily News. Richard was also a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Church. He loved spending time with his family and was very proud of their accomplishments in life. He enjoyed the times they gathered for crawfish boils, barbecues, and Sunday dinners. He was an avid Saints fan, enjoyed listening to Zydeco music, hunting, and cooking.

Richard was welcomed in heaven by the family whom preceded him in death: his parents, Felix and Ada Monic Hebert; father and mother in law, Linus and Alice Doucet; one sister Nita Clement; two brothers-in-law, John Reggie Clement and L.J. Doucet Jr.,; and two nephews, Timmy Clement and Toby Hebert.

Serving as pallbearers will be Felix Hebert, Troy Hebert, Deryle Daigle, Kenneth Doucet, Gardner Rose and Jason Hebert.

The Hebert family requests visitation be observed at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Sunday, January 15, from 3:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary recited by Mrs. Ida Trahan at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume on Monday, January 16, at 8 a.m. until the time of his funeral Mass at 10 a.m.
