Roberts Cove Horseshoe Tournament benefits Catholic education

ROBERTS COVE – The horseshoes were ringing in Roberts Cove on Sunday, March 9, 2008. The day began with a Mass followed by tournament games beginning shortly after 10:00 a.m.

Over 90 teams participated in this year’s tournament. Overall champions of the day were the team of Trudy Ronkartz and Stephanie Thibodeaux who beat Blake Foreman and John Leonards with a score of 19-17.

Horseshoe tournament division winners were as follows:

Junior Division - Alex Gotte and Adam Leger, Luke Habetz and Nick Benoit, and Dylan Soileaux and Mickey Morgan.

Elementary Division - Layson Young and Kade Stutes, Mary Johnson and Allie Gossen, and Tabatha Bridy and Mackenzie Habetz.

Men’s Division - Blake Foreman and John Leonards, Mike Henry and Ricky Henry and Shephen Gary and Brian Gary.

Ladies Division - Trudy Ronkartz and Stephanie Thibodeaux, Kathy Abshire and Monique Thevis and Tiffany Young and Jana Hoffpauir

Overall winners were Trudy Ronkartz and Stephanie Thibodeaux who beat Blake Foreman and John Leonards with a score of 19-17.

A day of family fun with delicious food, games, and wonderful weather were enjoyed by all that attended.

General chairpersons for this year’s tournament were Claire and Tommy Benoit and Patricia and James Meyer. They thanked everyone involved for their help in making this year’s tournament a success. Special thanks to area businesses and individual supporters for their donations to this year’s auction.

St. Leo’s Horseshoe Tournament and Auction is held each year the weekend before Palm Sunday. Proceeds from this event help defray the cost of Catholic Education for the children of St. Leo and St. Edmund Parish.
