Robichaux leads Cajuns past UNO

NEW ORLEANS – Former Notre Dame standout and current Univeristy of Louisiana at Lafayette pitcher Justin Robichaux picked up his biggest win of the season Friday, helping lead the Ragin Cajuns to a 12-4 victory over the University of New Orleans.

The victory was big because it guarantees them a berth in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.

Robichaux pitched three innings before seeing his string of consecutive innings without an earned run come to an end in the fourth. He allowed two runs in the inning and then pitched three more scoreless innings before giving way to Luke Wagley.

The junior hurler finished seven innings allowing two runs, both earned, on just five hits, three walks and four strikeouts. He now has not allowed an earned run in 33 of his last 34 innnings.

Wagley pitched the final two innings, allowing three runs, two earned, on four hits, one walk and one strikeout.

Chad Keefer went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored on a three-run home run and a double to lead the Cajuns’ offense. He was joined in the three RBI category by Kyle Olasin who was 2-for-5. Greg Fontenot scored three times and drove two more across on 3-for-5 hitting and Kyle Bostick also went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and one RBI to round out an impressive team outing from the plate.
