Services for Mr. Ronald “Ron” Johnston, 54, of West Monroe, were held Friday, April 3, 2009 at the Eastside Baptist Church.
Interment followed in the Stevenson Cemetery.
Mr. Johnston was born December 28, 1954 in Delhi, LA and raised North of Holly Ridge, LA. He started working for the Richland Parish Sheriffs Department in 1974. He was with the department from 1974 through 1981 when he became a Louisiana State Trooper. He was with Troop G, number G-22 until he retired in 1988. He worked for several different police agencies after his retirement. He is a member of the Masonic Lodge in Oak Grove, Lodge #284, and a Barak Shriners.
He is preceded in death by his loving mother, Mary Lee Johnston, his Aunt Kate Cotney, and his father-in-law Gaddis Toney.
He is survived by loving wife and best friend of 19 years, Elizabeth Marie Johnston. Six children; three sons Ronald “Brad” Johnston of Holly Ridge, LA, Brian Toney of Alto, LA, and Todd Johnston of West Monroe, LA, three daughters Anna Johnston of Holly Ridge, LA, Samantha Toney of Alto, LA, and Jennifer Rider of West Monroe, LA. Ten grandchildren; Christian Johnston, Ronald Toney, Holden Johnston, Kody Gilbert, Logan Toney, Dawson Johnston, Maria Gilbert, Brianna Hattaway, Remy Toney, Chloe Johnston, and Jonathan Rider, his father, Oscar Johnston, his three sisters; special baby sister, Cindy and brother-in-law Kieth Holley, Kathy Kelly, Joann Copes, numerous nieces and nephews, and special friend, Irene Smith.
Pallbearers were Donald Toney, Keith Holley, Adam Holley, Jordan Holley, Daniel Toney and Daniel Hutson.
Honorary pallbearers were Ric Christian and Doug Chisolm.
