ROUNDUP: CHS Ladies, Lady Pios pick up victories
CROWLEY – Crowley High’s Ladies used a three-run fourth inning to break open a tight game and slip away with a 5-1 victory over South Beauregard Tuesday.
The Ladies improved to 20-6 on the season and 5-2 in District 4-3A with the victory. The Lady K’s fell to 13-13 and 4-3.
The Ladies pounded out four hits in the fourth inning, including a two-run double by Skylor Huval, to distance themselves from the Lady K’s.
Olivia Boullion took over from there and limited the Lady K’s to just two hits over the final three frames. She surrendered four hits overall while walking one and striking out five.
Bailee Villejoin paced the Ladies at the plate with two hits while Huval had a double and drove in a pair of runs. Taylor Grabowski and Katelyn Killmer each had one hit and an RBI and Heather Trahan, Megan Guidry and Maddie LeBouef each had one hit.
Lady Pios cruise past Iowa
IOWA – The Notre Dame Lady Pios clubbed out 19 hits, including six doubles, in a 17-0 District 4-3A road victory over Iowa Tuesday.
The Lady Pios (21-5, 7-0) took a 3-0 lead after two innings and scored 14 runs over the following two frames to end the game by virtue of the mercy rule.
Mollie Stelly limited Iowa to just one hit over four innings. She struck out six.
Taylor Boulet led the Lady Pios’ offensive attack with four hits and two RBI and Alexa Thibodeaux had three hits and one RBI. Brittney Nolan and Zoie Lavergne each had two hits and three RBI; Allie Daigle and Harley Bellard each had two hits and two RBI; Taylor Satchell had two hits, Elise LeBeouf had one hit and three RBI and Megan Murrell had one hit. Boulet, Thibodeaux, Lavergne, Daigle, Bellard and LeBeouf each had one double on the day.
Pios hold off Yellow Jackets
IOWA – The Notre Dame Pioneers jumped out to an early lead and held off a late rally to slip past Iowa, 5-4, Tuesday evening in District 4-3A action.
The Pios improved to 11-11 on the season and 5-0 in league play with the victory.
Gavin Bourgeois picked up the victory on the mound after surrendering three runs on five hits and one walk. He struck out two in five innings.
Alex Holston took over in the sixth and limited Iowa to one run on two hits and one walk in earning his third save of the season.
Bourgeois, Sam Veillon and Joe Faulk each had two hits in the victory. Dillan Gilbert, Brad Stoma, Alex Rozas and Hogan Guidry each had a single.
