Royal flags mark opening of Mardi Gras season

CROWLEY - 2011 Krewe of Town Revelers Mardi Gras royalty, King Cimmer LVI Marvin Anthony Constantin and his queen, Rebecca “Becky” Broussard marked the opening of this year’s Mardi Gras season by hanging their official royal Mardi Gras flags.

Similar flags, indicating past kings and queens of the Krewe of Town Revelers, can be seen hanging throughout Acadia Parish, in particular Crowley and Rayne. The monarchs ruled over last year’s Mardi Gras ball themed “The Wild Side of Cimmer.”

This year the Mardi Gras ball will be held on Saturday, Feb. 18 at the Rice Festival Building.

Tickets will go on sale in mid-January. Information may be obtained from members of the Crowley Town Club or by calling 783-1410.
