Ruby Marie Hanks Saltzman
CROWLEY – A mass of Christian Burial will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at Saint Michael Catholic Church for Ruby Marie Hanks Saltzman, 89, who died 7 a.m. Monday, June 1, 2009 at her residence in Broussard.
Fr. Gary Schexnayder will celebrate the Mass and committal service at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 9 am until service time Wednesday. The rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Ms. Saltzman was born January 23, 1920 in Morse to the late Guilliam and Olivia Quibodeaux Hanks. She lived in Broussard for most of her life.
She was a loving mother and grandmother who was adored by her family, grandchildren and her friends.
She is survived by six daughters, Geraldine (Frank) Armola of Buffalo, NY, Barbara Shedd of Lafayette, Jaquelin (Richard) Jones of Crowley, Gloria (Curtis) Aucoin of Crowley, Joetta (Walter) Duhon of Broussard and Vicky Bourgeois of Scott; three sons, Charles (Shirley) Saltzman of Houston, Texas, Terry Saltzman of Baton Rouge and Michael (Della) Saltzman of Broussard; her dog of nine years, Agnes; a brother, Carl Hanks of Lafayette; six sisters, Nancy Hanks of Baton Rouge, Sadie (Dago) Redlich of Crowley, Gilderie (Duke) Armentor of Lake Charles, Joicy (Williard) Sterling of Beaumont, Roberta (Bobby) John of Carencro and Alice (Philip) Desormeaux of Mermentau; 31 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great grandchildren and a sister in law, Della Hanks.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Talton Saltzman; three children, Williard Saltzman, Clayton Dale Saltzman and Robert Saltzman; three brothers, Irving, Wilson and Williard Hanks; two sons-in-law, Angelo Lima and Grady Mack Shedd; a daughter-in-law, Delores Saltzman; and a sister-in-law, Maryetta Hanks.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home of Crowley.
