Ruby Matte Miller

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at 11 a.m. at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church, Estherwood for Ruby Matte Miller, 83, who died Saturday, June 5, 2010 at 9:45 a.m. at Crowley Rehab Hospital.

Fr. Donald Pousson, Pastor of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church, will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Monday from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. A rosary will be recited Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Miller enjoyed crafts, and was a self-taught seamstress and quilter and did them all to perfection. Her prize accomplishments were the quilts she made for her children and grandchildren and many others. She loved to travel and never met a stranger. She was a homemaker who created a home that all came back to year after year which included her family as well as many others who regarded her as their mother also. Above all was a devout religious woman. She loved her church and her faith and lived her life accordingly. Mom was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished her family time and will be missed by all who knew her.

Mrs. Miller is survived by one daughter, Debra Miller of Crowley; two sons, P. J. Miller, Jr. and his wife Velta of Crowley, andWilliam J. Miller and his wife Bridget of Crowley; four grandchildren, Yancy Miller and his wife Miriam of Lafayette, Justin Miller and his wife Ashley of Crowley, Tiffany Richard and her husband Shannon of Crowley, and Katina Richard and her husband Todd of Lafayette; five great-grandchildren, Shelby and Heather Richard both of Lafayette, Brooke, Marae and Gage Richard all of Crowley; her godson, Norman Alan Hartwell of Williston, North Dakota.

Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her husband, Pelton J. Miller, Sr.; her parents, Eulice and Marie Ophelia L. Matte; and one sister, Verna Mae Hartwell.

Pallbearers will be Yancy Miller, Jusin Miller, Todd Richard, Shannon Richard, Glenn Richard, Dorsey Thibodeaux.
