JENNINGS – Services for Russell Joseph Hanks, 60, will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jennings with Father Charles McMillin officiating the services.
He died on Sunday, January 4, 2009 at his Jennings residence.
Mr. Hanks was born in Midland to the late Lessin and Ida LaPointe Hanks.
A rosary will be recited on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. Burial will held in the Estherwood Cemetery following his services.
Mr. Hanks was a pipe fitter by trade. He loved to cook, watch football, and construct different items. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his spouse, Laurice Morvant Hanks of Jennings; one son, Keith Hanks and wife Tina of Iota; two daughters, Cynthia LaBouve and husband Richard Jr. of Evangeline and Shelley Swire and husband Asa of Grand Chenier; one brother, Roland Hanks and wife Deanna of Crowley; five sisters, Velma Stutes and husband Douglas of Midland, Shirley Dupuis and husband Curlis of Midland, Margie Hanks also of Midland, Rose Marie Broussard and husband Roger of Crowley, and Diana Duhon and husband Emile of Crowley; and nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and his baby brother, Nolan Hanks.
Pallbearers will include Keith Hanks, Asa Suire, Chet Hanks, Shawnavon LaBouve, Jr., Tim Hanks, and Mark Broussard. Honorary pallbearers will include Allen Curlis, Lance Hanks, and Richard LaBouve, Jr..
Visitation will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Jennings, La on Tuesday, January 6 from 10:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. and again on Wednesday, January 7 from 8 a.m. until time of services.
