Ruth Geesey Sonnier
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009 at 12 Noon at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel for Ruth Geesey Sonnier, 82, who died Monday, December 21, 2009 at 4:55 a.m. in Crowley.
Mrs. Sonnier served as the Crowley manager for the Sears Catalog store for thirty-five years. She was active in fundraisers for the local humane society. She enjoyed sewing, baking and the company of her family and friends.
Rev. Elaine Burleigh, Pastor of First United Methodist Church, will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Wednesday from 9 a.m. to service time. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Sonnier is survived by three sons, Larry Harmon and his wife Mary Alice of Tickfaw, Bryan Sonnier of Urica, Venezuela and his wife Cheryl, Marc Sonnier and his wife Peggy of Lafayette; one sister, June G. Yadron of Houston, Texas; one sister-in-law, Barbara T. Geesey of Crowley; six grandchildren, Melissa Ann McCormick, Sandra Lee Mataya, Amalie “Lee” Harmon, Margaret H. Moore, Elizabeth Page Harmon and Denise Mosser; six great-grandchildren, Jack, Charlie and Henry Moore: Allen Mataya: Bella Jane and Lillia Rose Mosser.
Mrs. Sonnier was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Henry Harmon; her second husband, Earl Anthony Sonnier; one son, Jerry Page Harmon; her parents, Lloyd P. and June A. Geesey; and one brother, George Geesey.
Pallbearers will be Larry Harmon, Marc Sonnier, Bryan Sonnier, Scott Moore, Brian McCormick and Armand Mataya. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Dore, Jerry Hickman and Matt Mosser.
The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Caine and the staff of Lafayette Hematology and Oncology, AAA Hospice of New Iberia.
