The City of Rayne and local organizations, businesses and families have put together an exciting “Fright Fest” for our community for Halloween, Saturday, October 31. Fright Fest 2009, being held at the Rayne Civic Center, promises
to be a fun event.
Plans for the evening have been finalized and everyone is invited to participate.
The hours of fun will be from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. with a voluntary admission fee of a canned good or monetary donation, which will be returned to the community in baskets for needy families during the Thanksgiving holidays.
Children 12 years old and younger will be able to participate in approximately 20 fun games and activities and be able to win Halloween treats in the carnival atmosphere.
A costume contest will be held at 6:30 p.m. with trophies being presented in Cutest, Scariest and Most Creative categories in age categories as follows: under 1-year, 1-year-olds, 2-year-olds, 3-year-olds, 4-year-olds, 5-year-olds, 6-year-olds, 7-year-olds, 8-year- olds, 9-year-olds, 10 to 12-year-olds, 13 to 17-year-olds, 18 and older, Pet, Group and Overall.
Cultural Director Cheryl McCarty says, “This event has evolved into a yearly activity as a safe alternative to door-to-door trick or treating. We ask for and encourage the community’s support for this event in the interest of fun, safe Halloween activities for the children of Rayne. I’d also like to thank all of those people who have stepped up in the way of volunteering, candy donations and general support for our Halloween event. In terms of success, it is already one, because it has pulled together many people in the interest of quality community activities.”
