Savoy Care Center News: Belated Happy Easter
(Editor’s Note: The following article was submitted by Patricia Duplechin, resident activity director at Savoy Care Center Nursing Home in Mamou.)
Easter is the annual Christian celebration of the resurrection of Jesus from the dead.
Although Easter is not found in the Bible, it is the most important of all Christian celebrations. If the followers of Jesus had not believed he was risen from the dead, it is doubtful the Christian faith would have developed. Therefore, the celebration of Jesus' birth at Christmas, which we tend to think of as the biggest Christian holiday, would probably not be commemorated.
We celebrated Holy Week by doing Easter crafts, bingo for prizes of Easter candy and baskets, Easter egg hunts for residents and staff, egg dyeing, pocking contest, Way of the Cross and rosary recited by St. Ann's Catholic Church ladies. I hope everyone had a Happy Easter.
The staff of Savoy Care Center would like to welcome new friends Betty Fontenot and Arthur Vaughn to the facility. We look forward to serving you.
This week's activities include ice cream party, coffee and cake, prayer meeting, VFW bingo, Catholic mass, bible study, Wii games, beanbag toss, pool games, horseshoes, pokeno, birthday party and a.m. stretch.
The meal of the month is scheduled for today, April 16. This meal is chosen by residents each month.
