School Board to consider Nassif contract next month
The St. Landry Parish School Board will consider the status of Supt. Michael Nassif at its February meeting.
Board President John Miller, re-elected at Thursday’s January meeting, noted Nassif’s contract is up for renewal this year and said the subject will be on next month’s agenda.
The contract does not expire until later in the year, but Miller said he wanted to the matter taken care of as soon as possible.
During his remarks to the board, Nassif told the board he looked forward to the renewal of his contract “because I know I have fulfilled it. I look forward to the February meeting.”
Miller and Nassif noted that implementation of a pending new desegregation plan will take hard work in 2009.
And both noted the financial challenges facing the system in difficult economic times.
Miller asked Nassif if employees could look forward to a salary bonus later in the current school year.
Nassif said he had this week sent a letter to employees advising the topic would be revisited in the spring.
A bonus traditionally given employees between Thanksgiving and Christmas was skipped last month because of the administration’s concerns about soft revenues and rising expenses.
