School Board holds committee meetings
The Tangipahoa parish school system held several committee and delegation meetings on Monday, November 3, at the central office in Amite.
The Independence board delegation convened first, with several items and requests to consider on the agenda. Chairman Danny Ridgel began with presenting a consideration of a low quote of $4,200 from Milton Fence Company for a parent pick-up fence at Midway Elementary School, to be paid by the pay-as-you-go funds. Motion passed unopposed. There was also a low quote from Ebarb dozer and Backhoe in the amount of $10,000 for a new parking lot at Midway Elementary. Motion passed unopposed as well.
The Kentwood delegation approached the committee to consider the approval of an upgrade to the office computer at O.W. Dillon Elementary School in the amount of $52 to be paid from the pay-as-you-go funds. This motion passed and will go before the full board for approval.
The Loranger delegation, chaired by Sandra Bailey-Simmons, had a request to consider a low quote from Tri-Parish Home Improvements in the amount of $4,552 from the pay-as-you-go funds for a cafeteria canopy at Loranger Elementary. Also a consideration for a quote from Cowart Fence to fence in the bus parking area at Loranger High School. Both requests were tabled until the next meeting when representatives from both schools could be present.
The Amite delegation placed a consideration before the board to approve an In Focus projector and screen for the band room at Amite High School in the amount of $758.94 to be paid for by the pay-as-you go funds. Motion passed.
The finance committee considered the approval of the Accounts Payable Check Register dated September 27 thru October 24 in the amount of $7,852,659.89. This motion passed without opposition.
