Seven charged in Bengal Village disturbance

Seven residents of Bengal Village were arrested Monday on charges stemming from an altercation last week.

Bengal Village is the independently owned and managed student housing complex on the LSU Eunice campus. Coincidentally, Monday was the last day of classes for the spring semester at the university.

The incident leading to the arrests began late one night last week at a Eunice night spot.

Two persons alleged to police they were accosted by a group of persons. They left, they told police, and went to Bengal Village, where the others followed.

One thing led to another and the group ended up in a fight on the parking lot, police say.

The report did not indicate what led to the spat between the parties.

Subsequently, the two filed charges against the others.

Warrants were served on Monday.

Charged were:

Te’ara Jordan, 20, Lafayette, disturbing the peace by fighting.

Angelica Gee, 19, Lafayette, disturbing the peace by fighting.

Kailine McCoy, 20, New Iberia, disturbing the peace.

Lashantae Diggs, 19, Centerville, disturbing the peace.

Danielle Coles, 20, Jeanerette, disturbing the peace.

Tiara Johnson, 20, Amelia, disturbing the peace.

Alva Yelling, 20, 225 LSUE Campus Dr., disturbing the peace.
