JENNINGS – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, December 20, 2008 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Crowley for Shelton Ray Miller, 57, who died December 16, 2008 at St. Patrick Hospital in Lake Charles.
Fr. Charles McMillin, pastor of Our Lady of Help and Christian Catholic Church in Jennings will be officiating for the services.
The family is requesting visiting hours to be held Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to the time of service.
A rosary will be lead by Jackie Ware at 7 p.m. Friday at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home in Crowley. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Shelton was a teacher and coach for 33 years in the Acadia Parish School System. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as Grand Knight for two years. Shelton enjoyed photography, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Patti Lynn Ware Miller of Jennings; his mother, Clara Miller of Church Point; three sons, Chad Edward Miller and his wife Kellie of Jennings, Shane Michael Miller and his wife Annika of Houston, Texas, and Corey Ray Miller and his wife Maggie of Iota; two brothers, Ronald Miller of Church Point, and Bryan “Butch” Miller of DeRidder; and eight grandchildren, Devin Christopher, Brandon, Katelyn, Collin, Crystal, Alexis, Tristan, and Chloe` Miller.
Mr. Miller is preceded in death by his father, Felix Miller.
The pallbearers will be Chad Miller, Devin Christopher, Brandon Miller, Corey Miller, Shane Miller, Chris Ware, Ronald Miller, and Nick Romero. And his grandchildren will be honorary pallbearers.
