Sheriff's office releases more on found decomposed body

ROBERT'S COVE - A badly decomposed body was discovered in Acadia Parish Thursday night at an oil well site located off Hawks Road near Robert's Cove.

According to Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon, the sheriff''s office was notified shortly after 6 p.m. that the body had been discovered by a juvenile riding a four-wheeler on a road leading to an oil well site.

Investigators at the scene advised that the Acadia Parish Coroner's Office confirmed that the body was that of a male subject whose age and race are unknown. The victim's body is being sent to the Calcasieu Parish Coroner's Office.

Although the cause of death is unknown at this time, the investigation is being treated as a homicide awaiting an autopsy and cause of death.
