Sheriff's Office seeking owners

CROWLEY – A press conference was held at the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office Tuesday to ask the public’s help in locating property which was stolen by Kevin Davis. Davis was arrested March 28 of this year after allegedly committing burglaries in Acadia and St. Landry parish within hours of each other. Davis was arrested when he was spotted driving a vehicle which matched the description of the burglar’s vehicle.

After obtaining a search warrant for his vehicle, authorities from Acadia and St. Landry parish found numerous rifles, shotguns, handguns, a safe, lawn equipment and jewelry. All the items recovered from the vehicle have been identified as having been taken during reported residential burglaries in both parishes.

Both St. Landry Sheriff Bobby Guidroz and Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon stated that there have recently been a rash of residential burglaries in northern Acadia Parish and western St. Landry Parish. Investigators believe, due to the type of items recovered, that Davis may possibly be involved in other unsolved burglaries.

They are asking the people who may have bought items from Davis to contact either the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office Criminal Division or the St. Landry Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division. All people that come forward at this time will be able to return the property to its rightful owner. Individuals returning these items will not face criminal charges.
