Shower celebrates Sarah Lawlis' upcoming marriage
GEORGETOWN, Texas – Sarah Paige Lawlis Of Austin, Texas, bride-elect of Arlin Michael Mire of Austin, was feted with a garden-themed shower Saturday, July 27 at 5 p.m.
Sarah is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Stephen Lawlis of Georgetown, Texas, and Arlin is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Corwin Mire of Rayne.
For her shower, Sarah chose a BCBG Max Azria fitted lace tiered cream and nude dress with nude and coral peep-toe pumps. A large lace and organza tea rose corsage completed the ensemble.
Mother of the bride-to-be, Mrs. Stephen Lawlis, chose a fitted green and ivory garden dress from the Ann Taylor bridal collection that was completed with an ivory tea rose and organza corsage for the occasion.
Mrs. Corwin Mire, mother of the prospective groom, opted for a fitted hot pink sleeveless sheath-style dress, accented with black and white accessories and zebra print pumps. Her outfit was completed with an ivory tea rose and organza corsage.
The Georgetown home of Vicki Jackimiec welcomed 41 guests from Rayne and Lafayette as well as the Texas cities of Houston, Wichita Falls, Archer City, Fort Worth, Austin and Uvalde. Special guests for the event included grandmother of the bride-elect, Eleanor Rushia; aunt and godmother of the bride-elect, Cheryl Beesinger; aunt of the groom-elect, Katrinka Trahan; and sister of the groom-elect, Ariel Mire.
Serving as hostesses along with Vicki were Rhonda Bobinger, Carla Willis and maid of honor Lourdes Lozano.
Vicki’s home was decorated to match the garden theme as well as with antiques and memorabilia from the bride-elect’s life.
Decorations included green, champagne and ivory lace and tulle falls from hydrangea arrangements. Centerpieces and table settings of large ivory garden roses and ivory tapers also served as decorations.
Decorations greeted guests at the front door with two white doves. The accompanying door held a hydrangea arrangement and a fall of lace and organza capped by a crystal “S” in Sarah’s honor. Decorations then continued into the dining room with a buffet featuring a carrot cake, the bride-elect’s favorite, decorated with green fondant, a sculpted wedding dress and tiger lilies and crystal accents surrounding the cake.
Guests were ushered to the patio where refreshments of iced tea, strawberry pomegranate punch and red and white wines were served. Complimenting the refreshments was a delicious selection of hors d’oeuvres, which included Texas caviar, raspberry chipotle meatballs, guacamole with hand-crafted salsa and an assortment of Brie topped with dried fruits and nuts.
The dinner buffet featured “Jenny’s Famous Summer Salad,” lime-infused quinoa, vegetable medley, Thai noodle salad, mesquite smoked turkey, baby asparagus with marinated mushrooms, broiled petite potatoes and a sculpted watermelon filled with assorted fresh seasonal fruits.
Dinner ended with slices of the shower cake and a variety of candies and cookies served in antique teacups.
Sarah and Arlin have chosen to be wed at 7:30 p.m., Nov. 9 at Saint Mary’s Cathedral in downtown Austin and will celebrate their marriage at The Austin Club.
