Someone stole boat in Henry area

According to Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon, detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division are attempting to locate a boat that was reported missing Sunday afternoon in the Henry area.

Sheriff Couvillon says that on Sunday October 26, 2008 a 15½‘ 1995 white fiberglass Bayhawk boat with blue carpet Registration #LA2009ER on a tandem axle trailer was reported stolen near the intersection of LA. 331 and Aristide Road, which is located south of Erath in the Henry area.

Sheriff Couvillon further stated that the boat which made its way into an area sugarcane field during the tidal surge associated with Hurricane Ike, had just been removed from the field when the trailer received a flat tire, and was left near the roadway while attempting to get assistance, and upon returning noticed the boat and trailer were gone.

Sheriff Couvillon said that whoever took the boat may have thought that it was left for removal as an unwanted item because of its condition; however that was not the case.

Finally, Sheriff Couvillon stated that if that was the case and the boat and trailer are returned no criminal charges will be pursued.

If anyone has information in regards to this investigation, they are urged to contact the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division at 898-4403.
