Sonya Tauzin weds Brandon Claude Hussey

A seven o’clock evening wedding ceremony on Saturday, March 24, 2012, at the Rayne Civic Center Ballroom united Sonya Lynn Tauzin and Brandon Claude Hussey as husband and wife.

The bride is the daughter of Nolan and Audrey Tauzin of Rayne. Her grandparents are the late Maurice and Delia Thibodeaux of Rayne and the late Alibie and Felicienne Tauzin, Sr. of Cecilia. She is a 2006 graduate of Rayne High School and is employed with the Public Defender’s Office.

The groom is the son of Claude and Tina Hussey of Rayne. His grandparents are the late Agathe and Roy Comeaux, Sr. of Rayne, Louise Wiltz of Rayne, and the late Michael Hussey of Scott. A 2006 graduate of Rayne High School, he served four years in the United States Marine Corps and is presently employed by John Chance Land Surveys, Inc.

Against a background of music provided by Blake Hussey, brother of the groom, the bride entered on the arm of her father wearing a halter-style gown of white satin featuring an A-line split front design and red beaded sash at the waist. A beaded hair clip held a veil of white illusion for her headpiece, while she carried a cascading bouquet of white lilies and orchids with red calla lilies and orchids and detailed with her late grandmother’s scarf.

Traditional items selected by the bride for her wedding day was a scarf from her late grandmother (Delia Thibodeaux) for something old, and her wedding dress as something new. She borrowed a hair piece from a friend and something blue was her garter.

Attending as maid of honor was Michelle Hussey, sister of the groom and friend of the bride.

Matron of honor was Crystal Granger, sister of the bride.

Bridesmaids were Candice Plaisance, Kathy Higgins, Laura Stagg Hesser, Sarah Cormier Lantier and Nolanie Guidry, friends of the bride, and Megan Thibodeaux Meaux, cousin of the bride.

Junior bridesmaid was Alexis Thibodeaux, cousin of the groom.

Bridal attendants each wore a black halter-style dress and carried a bouquet of white calla lilies and red orchids gathered with red and black ribbon.

Serving as flower girl was Roselyn Goregory, groom’s niece and bride’s godchild. She carried a white basket filled with red flowers.

Attending the groom as best men were Blake Hussey, brother of the groom, and Ryan Harding, friend of the groom.

Groomsmen were Blane Credeur, Brock Brasseaux and Matt Hall, friends of the groom, and Joshua Tauzin, brother of the bride.

Serving as ring bearers were Evan Louis Granger, bride’s nephew and godchild, and Logan James Granger, bride’s nephew.

Male attendants wore a selection of formal black tuxedos or Marine formals.

For her daughter’s wedding, the mother of the bride, the former Audrey Thibodeaux wore a two-piece red and black ensemble, while the groom’s mother, the former Tina Comeaux selected a formal black dress. Each was presented a corsage of white calla lilies and red orchids.

Immediately following the wedding ceremony, a reception was held in honor of the newlyweds on site at The Ballroom.

Among the refreshments provided for guests was the bridal cake, a three-layer white confection served by Mary Johnson Comeaux. The groom’s cake was served by Brenda Johnson.
