Lady Wolves keep district slate clean

The state’s No. 10-ranked Lady Wolves of 4A remain undefeated in 4-4A district play with a 9-0 slate and a big Friday win over Washington-Marion High School.
Leading the 59-37 win over Washington-Marion was Charlesha Dugas with 24 points, three rebounds, eight steals and an assist.
Helping the cause were Tori Carriere with 22 points and six rebounds, and Cierra Harmon (six points) and Whitley Larry (six points, six blocks, seven steals).
In their 55-23 win over Opelousas, Dugas shined once again with 12 points, five rebounds, five steals, a block and assists.
Teammate Tanner Wilson dumped in 10 points and collected five steals on the night, while Tori Carriere netted eight points, and an additional half-dozen points were netted by Whitley Larry and Keysuana Moore each.
Tuesday’s home contest against LaGrange was moved to Wednesday due to official scheduling, that will be followed by their last two district contests of their regular schedule -- at Eunice on Tuesday (Feb. 11) and hosting Crowley (Feb. 14).
On the boys’ side of the coin, the Wolves also traveled to Lake Charles Friday where they met state-ranked Washington-Marion.
Following a close 19-14 first quarter score, the 5-ranked Indians broke things wide open at the half (38-17) and finished the night with a 79-49 win over th Wolves.
Leading the Rayne High scoring was Byron Mouton and Drakkar Broussard with 14 and 13 points, respectively.
Finishing up Rayne scores were Trevon Fontenot with six points, Desmond Cole and Charles Jones at four each, and Dylan Bergeron and Peyton Larry each with a trey.
