Rayne High Tracksters travel to Welsh meet

WELSH - The Rayne High Track Team traveled to Welsh High School on Friday, April 4, for the Greyhound Relays.
Among the 14 teams in attendance, the Wolves and Lady Wolves squads faired well both in the field and on the track.
Lady Wolves standout Tristan Mouton placed in four events during the meet. In the hurdles, Mouton gained a first in the 300-meter (49.87) and a second in 100-meter (16.75).
Mouton also placed fifth in the long jump (14-10) and sixth in the triple jump (30-1).
Teammate Imari Jackson took a fourth place in the pole vault at 7-6 to complete the Lady Wolves’ scoring.
On the track for the Wolves, Cordracus Thomas claimed a first place finish in the 400-meter with a 55.08 time, with teammate Cort Roberts taking a fourth at 1:04.59.
Baron Beard recorded a fifth in the 100-meter dash (12.20) and sixth in the 200-meter dash (24.87), while Cameron Gibson place sixth in both the 100-meter dash (12.34) and 200-meter dash (25.06).
Jacoby White was runner-up in the 800-meter run (2:15.80) and placed fifth in the 1600-meter run (5:25.12).
In the field, Nick Dore finished seventh in the shot put (32-8) and Devin Savoy took a third in the javelin with a 119-5 throw.
Both squads will travel to Church Point High School on Wednesday, April 16, for the Bear Paw Relays as a warm-up for their district meet slated Monday, April 21, at Rayne High School.
