LCA slips past NCS Lady Warriors
LAFAYETTE – A trio of errors late in the game proved costly for the Northside Christian Warriors Monday afternoon.
The Lady Warriors (9-8, 1-2) committed three miscues in the fifth and sixth innings that led to three unearned runs in a 5-3 loss to Lafayette Christian at Pelican Park.
The Lady Knights took a 2-0 advantage in the first inning on three straight two-out hits.
The Lady Warriors responded in the fourth inning with three runs. Zera Hanagriff drove in a run with a single and Katelyn Jones picked up an RBI on a fielder’s choice. The third run crossed the plate on a wild pitch.
LCA regained the lead for good in the fifth inning when they got a pair of runners on courtesy of a walk and a hit batter. Then with two outs, an error allowed the tying and go ahead runs to score.
The Lady Knights added an insurance run in the sixth thanks to another NCS miscue with two outs.
The Lady Warriors went down in order in the bottom of the inning to end the game.
Zera Hanagriff and Katelyn Jones each had a single and a RBI in the losing effort. Meghan Jones and Zoie Hanagriff each had a single as well.
Angel Allen suffered the loss, allowing four runs on six hits and one walk.
She struck out one in four innings of work. Madisyn Clement pitched the final two frames and gave up one run on two hits and one walk.
The Lady Warriors will be in action again on Thursday when they travel to Singer for a District 6-C contest.
