Midland sweeps Centerville; Gents fall to Lafayette
MIDLAND – The Midland Rebels and Lady Rebels made short work of former district rival Centerville Tuesday evening.
The Rebels had three players score in double figures in a 61-36 thrashing of the Bulldogs while the Lady Rebels cruised to a 67-14 victory in the opener.
In the boys’ game, the Tigers kept it close for the first three minutes but the Rebels broke a 9-9 tie by going on an 11-0 run to end the frame.
The Rebels took a 37-21 lead at the break and outscored the Bulldogs 24-15 in the second half.
Devin Gautreaux and Jake Gautreaux paced the Rebels with 15 and 14 points, respectively. Darren Arceneaux followed with 12 points, Nick Primeaux pitched in 11, Randy Primeaux scored five and Traven Guidry finished with four.
The Lady Rebels were just as impressive in their victory.
The Lady Bulldogs scored 11 points in the first half before being held to just three in the final 16 minutes of the game.
Bethany LeJeune had the hot hand for the Lady Rebels with 13 points. Nicole Kraut followed with nine points, Tori Craigen, Macy Hoffpauir and Jade Boudreaux each scored eight, Elizabeth Istre and Adrekia Allen each had seven, Katie Woods and Brittney Perrodin each had three and Kristen Breaux had one.
Gents fall to Lions
LAFAYETTE – The Lafayette Lions matched Crowley’s overall point total in the first quarter alone and cruised to a 69-39 victory over the Gents Tuesday evening.
The Class 5A Lions poured in 39 points in the opening frame before scaling back in the final three quarters.
The Gents were led by Marcus Williams and Jacq’Co Price with 14 and eight points, respectively. Bryston Domino added six points, Tyron Daniels and Mylan Stevens each scored four, Charles Onezine had two and Larenz Smith had one.
