LAKE CHARLES – The Midland Rebels rebounded from a semifinal loss to Comeaux with a 62-56 victory over Jesuit Saturday in the consolation game of the 2013 Barbe Holiday Hoops Tournament.
The Rebels (13-2) took a 39-34 lead heading into the fourth quarter before the New Orleans-based team rallied to tie the game at 47-47 midway through the final stanza.
Midland then went on a 13-2 run, led by 11 and held on for the victory despite being outscored 7-2 in the final minutes.
Jake Gautreaux and Devin Gautreaux paced the Rebels with 18 and 14 points, respectively. Darren Arceneaux and Traven Guidry followed with 10 points each while Randy Primeaux scored eight and Nick Primeaux finished with two.
Lady Dogs cruise past St. Edmund
EUNICE - The Iota Lady Bulldogs improved to 9-5 on the season with a 61-47 victory over St. Edmund over the weekend.
Jillian Boone had the hot hand for the Lady Dogs with 19 points. She also added seven rebounds, three steals, three assists and one blocked shot in the victory.
Brittany Johnson followed with nine points and Alexis St. Andre had eight. Cambri St. Andre pitched in five points, Taylor Deville, Whitney Landry and Cameron Crochet each scored four, Mallory Faul had three and Madison Smith and Avery Wriborg each finished with two.
Lake Arthur slips past Lady Pios
MOSS BLUFF – The Lake Arthur Lady Tigers rallied from a six-point deficit in the fourth quarter to slip away with a 47-46 victory over the Notre Dame Lady Pios in the Sam Houston Tournament Saturday.
The loss was the third straight for the Lady Pios, who fell to 5-3.
The Lady Pios took a 17-15 lead in the first quarter behind eight points from Alex Miller and five from Sam Lyons.
That lead increased to six in the second quarter and held until the final frame when the Lady Pios were outscored by the Lady Tigers, 15-8.
The Lady Tigers hit three 3-pointers in the final eight minutes to fuel their run.
Madelyn LeJeune led the Lady Pios with 17 points and Lyons had 11. Miller added eight points, Hanna Esthay scored six and Gabbie Romero rounded out the scoring with six.
