Prep Roundup: Lady Warriors, Lady Pios pick up victories

CROWLEY – The Northside Christian Lady Warriors rallied to outscore Johnson Bayou 39-14 in the second half Tuesday and walk away with a 50-34 victory.
The Lady Warriors (8-11, 2-2) actually trailed 20-11 at the half before they rallied to tie the score at 30-30 at the end of the third quarter. Brooke Stanford drained a pair of 3-pointers and Zoie Hanagriff had one during the rally.
It was all Northside in the fourth quarter, with Madeline Gatte and Madisyn Clement combining for 17 points in the final eight minutes to lead the Lady Warriors on a 20-4 run.
Gatte paced the Lady Warriors with 13 points while Hanagriff and Kathryn Zaunbrecher had 10 each. Clement and Stanford each pitched in eight points and Meghan Jones finished with one.
Lady Pios cruise past West St. Mary
BALDWIN – The Notre Dame Lady Pios continued their dominance in District 6-3A with a 71-28 stomping of West St. Mary Tuesday evening.
The Lady Pios (16-4, 3-0) had seven of their eight players score in the contest with four scoring in double figures.
Madelyn LeJeune led the offensive attack with 18 points and Sam Lyons pitched in 15. Alex Miller followed with 12 points and Hanna Esthay scored 11.
Also contributing in the victory were Elise LeBeouf with nine points, Annie Matthews with four and Hunter LeBlanc with two.
Lady Wolves upend Crowley
CROWLEY – The Rayne Lady Wolves jumped out to a big lead in the first half and fended off a late charge to upend the CHS Ladies, 60-48, Tuesday evening.
Rayne (16-6, 6-0) took a 13-8 lead in the first quarter and increased its cushion to 30-15 at the half.
Crowley (5-15, 1-5) outscored the Lady Wolves 33-25 in the second half.
Charlesha Dugas led the Lady Wolves with 23 points while Tori Carrier and Cierra Harmon pitched in 15 and 10 points, respectively.
Crowley was led by Alanna Plummer with 19 points. Saquoya Savoy followed with 13 points; Myah Rogers had 2 and Nykeilia Winters scored two. Teara Breaux and Taylor Dapremont rounded out the scoring with one point each.
Warriors hold off Johnson Bayou
CROWLEY – The Northside Christian Warriors improved to 19-9 on the season and 3-1 in District 6-C play Tuesday with a 59-56 victory over Johnson Bayou.
Tracy Wilridge led the Warriors with 21 points while Kylan King and Bradley Ancelet followed with 14 and 10, respectively. Nicholas Zaunbrecher pitched in six points, Ty Wilson had five and Nick Martin added three.
Wolves top Gents
CROWLEY – The Crowley Gents’ fell to 3-10 on the season and 0-5 in District 4-4A play Monday with a 60-40 loss to Rayne.
Jacq’co Price carried the load for the Gents with 20 points. Mylan Stevens followed with six points; Grant Trahan and Paul Goodley each had four; Bryton Domino pitched in three; Tyrin Daniels had two and Chris Lewis had one.
Trevor Fontenot and Peyton Larry led the Wolves with 18 and 17 points, respectively.
West St. Mary slips by Pios
BALDWIN – Notre Dame rallied for 28 points in the fourth quarter, but fell just short in a 73-70 loss to West St. Mary Tuesday.
The Pios fell to 8-10 overall and 0-1 in District 6-3A play with the loss.
Tre Milstead scored 22 points in the loss and Hunter Meche had 13. Bryce Brandon followed with 12; Ethan Smith pitched in 10; Jacob LeLeux had five; Claiton Johnson scored four; Tyler Simar had two and Brent Didier finished with one.
