St. Michael High School Class of ’57 reunites
CROWLEY - Members of St. Michael High School’s Class of 1957 gathered together on Tuesday, Aug. 27, to celebrate their 56 years since graduation with a reunion that started with a Mass and ended with a meal.
For those able to attend, the day began with an 8:40 Mass celebrated by Fr. Mark Miley, associate pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, at the St. Michael Catholic School gym.
Principal Myra Broussard welcomed the alumni and thanked them for their support and generosity throughout the years.
A reception followed the Mass.
Afterwards, the classmates headed to the Rice Palace for a long noon meal filled with fellowship and reminiscing about “those good ole school days.”
Faye Lalande Perry organized the impromptu event on short notice, and her classmates expressed their appreciation that she was able to gather together 12 graduates living locally, as well as five guests, for the Mass and meal.
Those in attendance were Pam Desormeaux Barbier, Gregory Bollich and his wife Pat, Della Watkins Comeaux, Robert Duhon and his wife Lou, Jo Zaunbrecher Foreman and her husband Carl, Betty Lou Myers Girouard, Bennett Guidry, Beverly Broussard Hains, Mary Ann “Rusty” Leonards, Anna Louis Meyer Lormand, Faye Lalande Perry and her husband Norris, and Anna Margaret Cramer Zaunbrecher.
A special guest at the reunion was Coach Gerald Dill, who had just finished his second year of coaching at St. Michael High School when the class graduated.
