Tangipahoa Parish School Board Personnel Committee

The Tangipahoa Parish School Board Personnel Committee met Tuesday, January 6,and approved the following personnel transactions.

Newly hired teachers were Hollye Nicholas - Substitute Kindergarten teacher at Woodland PELC in place of Angellue Hamilton who is on leave effective Jan. 5, 2009; Tiffany Markey - Substitute Teacher at Vinyard Elementary in place of Cynthia Chatelain who resigned effective Nov. 20, 2008; Jill Wilson - Substitute Special Ed. Teacher at Midway Elem. effective Jan. 5, 2009; Danielle Wilson - Teacher at Tucker Elem. in place of Jill Miller who resigned effective Jan. 5, 2009; Sheila Conley - Special Ed. Teacher at Northwood in place of Philicia Mollere who transferred effective Dec. 1, 2008; Jessica Lee - Substitute Counselor at Independence Elem. in place of Melanie Ard who resigned effective Jan. 5, 2009.

Kelly Jenkins's transfer was approved from Special Ed. Teacher from Natalbany Elem. to Special Ed. Teacher at Tucker Elem. in place of Amanda Foy who is on leave effective Jan. 5, 2009.

Newly hired Support Personnel were Mark Wilson - 9 Month 8 Hour Janitor at Ponchatoula High in place of Paul Harris who retired effective Dec. 1, 2008;  Jerry Canale - LPN Child Specific Para. at Loranger Elem. in place of Jacquel Jackson who resigned effective Dec. 1, 2008; Michael Thompson - Special ed. Phillip Brown's transfer was approved from nine month custodian at Ponchatoula Jr. High to 12 Month Custodian at Ponchatoula Jr. High in place of Jesse smith, Jr. who resigned effective Jan. 5, 2009.

Newly hired School Food Service personnel were Hilda Stass - SFS Worker (four hrs.) - Ponchatoula High in place of Lachedra Legard who resigned effective Dec. 1, 2008 and Sandra Theriot - SFS Worker (four hrs.) - Hammond High in place of Shirley Reed who transfered effective Dec. 8, 2008.

Shirley Reed's transfer was approved from SFS Worker (four hrs.) - Hammond High to SFS Worker (seven hrs.) - Hammond Jr. High in place of Mary Weathersby who resigned effective Dec. 2, 2008.

Teacher at Ponchatoula Jr. High, Kathleen Sewell's retirement will be effective Jan. 12, 2009.

Personnel Committee New Business discussed was the issue of Incentive Pay for Alternative School Teachers.  

According to Mark Kolwe, Superintendent of the Parish Schools, and Thomas Bellavia, Assistant Superintendent certified teachers at Alternative Schools can expect to receive and additional $1,500 and non-certified teachers can expect to receive $750 as Incentive Pay for the remainder of this school year. Next school year 2009-2010 session, Alternative School certified teachers would receive a $3,000 and non-certified teachers receive $1,500 as Incentive Pay. Incentive Pay would be funded by the HEAP Grant which is a grant to be used only for teachers. Danny Ridgel made a motion to accept this motion with Leonart Genco seconding the motion with the entire Committee's approval for the extra pay for Alternative School teachers, and then the meeting was adjourned.
