CROWLEY – On October 23, Governor Bobby Jindal announced the appointment of a Crowley dentist, Dr. John Taylor, to the Louisiana State Board of Dentistry.
The Louisiana State Board of Dentistry is responsible for registering, examining, licensing and regulating the practices of dentistry and dental hygiene.
A board is comprised of fourteen gubernatorial appointments that are subject to senate confirmation, according to the statute. Each board member serves a five year term, during which they function as an advocate to ensure that Louisiana dentists continue to provide high quality dental care.
Dr. Taylor, a resident of Crowley, is a dentist with Acadiana Smiles, which is a family dentistry practice and member of the American Dental Association and the Louisiana Dental Association. As required by statute, Dr. Taylor was appointed by nominations submitted by the board to represent the First District.
“It was very humbling to find out that my peers had nominated me for the State Board. I was very honored,” Dr. Taylor said with a smile.
“I accept this responsibility and honor, and feel that it is my way of giving back to the profession of dentistry. I look forward to serving the public as a member of the Board,” he added.
