Texas woman dies in crash

Louisiana State Police – Troop I is currently investigating a two vehicle fatal crash on I-10, west of Egan, within Acadia Parish.

Forty-year-old Nina Farquhar, of Houston, Texas, was operating a 2004 Chevrolet SUV. Farquhar attempted to pass a 2005 Chevrolet Impala, driven by twenty-nine year old Tammy Francis of Lafayette, La, who was traveling westbound on I-10 in the right travel lane. Farquhar sideswiped the Francis vehicle and lost control of her SUV. The SUV traveled off the right side of the roadway through a fence and turned over in a small canal. The Acadia Parish Coroner’s Office pronounced Farquhar dead at the scene.

Two other passengers in the Farquhar vehicle were transported to local hospitals with moderate injuries. Farquhar was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, and investigators do not suspect alcohol/drugs. Francis was not injured in the crash and the investigation continues.
