After receiving information on the location of reportedly stolen items from the Eastin Gas Plant, authorities went to a residence, located the items and booked three into the parish jail.

Captain Keith Dupre, chief of detectives for the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office, said information he received suggested several items stolen from the Eastin Gas Plant were at a residence on Rock Pit Road. Deputy Jason Manuel and Pine Prairie Officer Ronnie Clark went to the residence and noticed two trucks in the yard with numerous valves, pipes, pumps, etc. inside, all pertaining to the oilfield. They also learned the trucks belong to Brandon Lee Rea, 21 (dob 6/8/86), and Sami Jo Muria Rea, 24, both of 5363 Chataignier Road, Ville Platte.

The sheriff’s office had an arrest warrant for Brandon Rea. He was wanted in connection with the burglary and theft of a crawfish plant several months earlier. That particular investigation led authorities to charge Rea, his wife, Sami Jo Rea and another person. Dupre said Sami Jo Rea knew authorities had an arrest warrant for her husband.

Sgt./Detective Orvel Hale arrived and they knocked on the door of the residence. Sami Jo Rea answered and Dupre said she told authorities her husband had left the residence that morning to go to work. They also spoke to another person, Roger Dale “T-Dale” Deville Jr., 22 (dob 7/17/85), 220 Balfa St., Mamou, who also told authorities Brandon Rea had left for work.

“A short time later, Brandon Rea decided to exit the house to get away,” Dupre said. He was taken into police custody and all three were brought to the parish jail. Dupre said Brandon Rea was booked into jail on the charges related to the crawfish plant theft and burglary. His wife, Sami Jo Rea, and Roger Dale Deville were charged with “aiding and abetting” Rea.

Both vehicles were also towed to the parish. Dupre said they are looking at other parishes to see if they are missing any items. He said charges are pending as this investigation continues.
