Three cited for selling alcohol to underage drinkers

The Ville Platte Police Department issued citations for unlawful sales of alcohol to three clerks Thursday evening, October 9, after checking seven businesses in the city.

Ville Platte Police Chief Neal Lartigue said the department had received several complaints concerning sales of alcohol to minors. He said seven businesses were checked by officers Thursday evening. Lartigue encouraged all business owners dealing in alcohol sales to please advise their employees not to sell alcohol to those under 21 and to please check identification.

Citations for unlawful sales of alcohol to persons under the age of 21 were issued to the following:

•Mohammed S. Mahmed at Joe’s Corner, 902 W. Lincoln St.

•Tamika Danielle Johnson at Tobacco Plus, 1021 E. Main St.

•Moundve Allan at A&A Quick Stop #2, 807 S. Chataignier.
