Three Ten Club holds monthly meeting on Louisiana sweet potatoes
The Three Ten Club met at the home of Georgie Petitjean on Tuesday, January 20. Serving as co-hostesses for the meeting were Betty Faulk and Imogene LaCour.
President, Mary Beth Geesey,
called the meeting to order with the reading of the Club Collect and the Pledge of Allegiance led by Brucie Landry and Barbara Geesey, respectively.
The secretary, Muff Bier, called roll and read the minutes from the last meeting, and Bobbie Chambers, treasure, gave the financial report. Committee reports and old and new business were discussed.
Following the business meeting Betty Faulk gave a most interesting and entertaining program on sweet potatoes one of the most nutritious foods in the vegetable kingdom.
The focus of all the programs this club year is Louisiana food industries. Sweet potatoes are the sixth principal world food crop, and Louisiana is one of the leading producers. Garber Farms of Iota is a major sweet potato producer. In keeping with the program theme delicious refreshments were served which included sweet potato muffins and sweet potato fudge, and all agreed they were very good.
